Maps tell you where. Ratings tell you what everyone thought. Palytt tells you what fits you and your table.
Palytt is a free iPhone and iPad app that helps you decide what to order and where to eat. Explore restaurant Order Guides and dish details where available, see friends’ ratings when they have rated a dish, keep a food journal, and plan group dinners in a room.
How does the Palytt match score work?
Palytt uses your saved and rated dishes to learn your taste. Order Guides may show dish scores and reasons, along with friends’ ratings when available. A displayed score is not a guarantee that a restaurant has enough personal taste evidence for you; check the dish details and your own preferences before ordering. Learn more about how taste matching works.
How does Palytt help me decide what to order?
Open a restaurant’s Order Guide to explore its dishes where a guide is available. Your own verdicts, friends’ ratings and community posts can add context when present. If a guide is thin, scan the menu at the table and check the restaurant’s current dish details before ordering.
Can Palytt scan a menu or a receipt?
Yes. At the table, scan the menu to extract dishes and get ordering context when Palytt has enough information. After the meal, scan your receipt: Palytt reads it on your iPhone (the photo isn’t uploaded or stored), matches what you ordered, and lets you mark each dish “I’d order again” or “Skip next time.” You can also share an order card with up to three dishes.
Can I plan a group dinner with Palytt?
Yes. Start a room for a date, dinner with friends or a team meal. Propose dates on a calendar, add places and compare them head to head, and everyone votes; the host locks the pick. Invite anyone by text with a link, even if they don’t have Palytt yet. Learn more about deciding where to eat with friends.
Does Palytt show sponsored picks?
No. Restaurants can’t pay to rank higher in your Order Guide, and every core feature is free to use without inviting anyone.
Can I use Palytt as a food journal?
Yes. Post the dishes you try, mark each one “I’d order again” or “Skip next time,” and your profile keeps them, along with your own food map. Every post and interaction earns XP, and your next visit starts with your own verdicts.
What are dish drift alerts?
When recent ratings of a dish you love start to slip—say, diners mention a thinner broth—Palytt marks it “May have changed” and lets you know. When a dish is getting better, it says “Better lately.”
What is Borrow a Palate?
Ask a friend to borrow their palate and you’ll see dishes ranked the way they’d order, which helps when they know a place better than you do. Your friend approves the request first.
What is my taste type?
Your taste type is a four-letter food personality, plus a Bold or Mellow flavor letter, from a free 20-question quiz. It’s just for fun and made to share; it doesn’t change your match scores.
Can I save places from Google Maps, Apple Maps or Instagram?
Yes. Paste links from Apple Maps, Google Maps, Instagram, Yelp and other apps, several at once, and Palytt saves the places to your Want to try list.
Does Palytt use Apple Intelligence?
Yes, on iPhones that support it. With iOS 26 or later and Apple Intelligence turned on, Palytt uses Apple’s on-device model to suggest chat replies and comment ideas, so that text stays on your iPhone. It also writes caption and cuisine suggestions when Palytt’s servers can’t, such as when you’re offline. On other iPhones and iPads, the same suggestions come from Palytt’s servers. Match scores are always calculated the same way for everyone.
How long does it take to set up Palytt?
A couple of minutes. Three quick this-or-that questions give Palytt a first read on your taste. Your saves, posts and verdicts add context over time.
Do I need friends on Palytt?
No. Your taste profile, saves and verdicts shape your picks on their own. Friends add their ratings of specific dishes, which makes Order Guides richer.
How is Palytt different from Yelp or Google Maps?
Review and map apps rate whole restaurants and help you get there. Palytt helps you explore dishes in a restaurant’s Order Guide, record what you would order again, and plan a meal with friends. Many people use Palytt alongside them. Compare Palytt and Yelp, or compare Palytt and Google Maps.
